Junior Javascript Developer Remote

The Role

Join a dynamic team at ShopSafe during an exciting phase of product development. We are designing and developing several innovative new products, including ecommerce web apps, React Native mobile applications, and enhancing existing cloud-based solutions into feature-rich platforms. As a member of our team, you will be involved in the entire development process—from product design and prototyping to development, testing, and deployment. You will work on both the frontend applications built with React and React Native, as well as the backend APIs created with NodeJS. Additionally, you will assist in the design, development, and maintenance of our websites and other products using the same JavaScript-based tooling.

This is a remote/home working position, with the option to work in an office environment if you prefer. You can join us at our Bury St Edmunds HQ or we can arrange for suitable shared office space near you. Occasionally, a visit to our central office near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, may be required.

Your Qualifications & Experience

We don’t place emphasis on formal qualifications—self-taught developers are encouraged to apply. We are looking for someone who can contribute to our projects immediately, so experience developing modern JavaScript-based applications in a commercial environment or through personal projects is essential.

We are particularly looking for candidates who have experience with, or the ability to quickly adapt to, the following technologies:

• HTML and CSS
• Modern front-end JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
• JavaScript-based mobile development frameworks (React Native)
• Modern front-end tooling
• GraphQL and REST APIs
• Stripe billing solutions
• Backend technologies (ideally experience with NodeJS and GraphQL servers)
• Serverless technologies, workflows, and platforms
• Git
• SQL-based databases (Postgres, MySQL)
