What is the your town business radio scheme?
It links shops, pubs, bars, security teams and the police in your town on one radio network, so members can warn each other about shoplifters and troublemakers and call for help instantly. ShopSafe runs the radio network in partnership with the local partnership.
How do the police take part?
Local police can see what members report in Alert as it happens, and share wanted offenders and bulletins back to members. You report an incident once instead of to each organisation separately.
I already call 999. Why do I need a radio?
Call 999 in an emergency. The radio is for everything else: warning the shop next door, hearing that a known offender is on the high street, and getting help from other members and security staff nearby, often before a situation becomes an emergency.
Will it work in my building?
The radios run over 4G, so they work anywhere there is a mobile signal. If your signal is weak we’ll check it during your trial.
What does the free trial include?
A radio for 30 days, access to Alert and set-up support. If you decide not to continue, you hand the radio back.
What happens if the radio breaks?
Our service exchange sends a replacement radio, battery, antenna or charger to arrive next day, with return packaging, at no extra cost. Support is available 24/7.
Is sharing offender information legal?
Yes, when it is done properly. Alert is built for compliant sharing, and ShopSafe is ISO 27001 and Cyber Essentials certified. The scheme sets who can see what and how long information is kept.
