What partnerships ask about radio

What is a BID radio scheme?

A BID radio scheme links shops, pubs, security teams and the CCTV control room in a town or city centre on one radio network, so members can warn each other and call for help instantly. It is often run by a Business Improvement District (BID) or Business Crime Reduction Partnership (BCRP), and is sometimes called Shopwatch, Townlink or Pubwatch. ShopSafe runs these schemes on 4G smart radios, with every call captured by Signal.

Can you take over our existing Shopwatch or Townlink scheme?

Yes. We move members onto ShopSafe radios, handle sign-ups and hire agreements, and train members on site, either managed by ShopSafe or self-managed by the partnership.

What coverage do the radios have?

ShopSafe radios work over 4G, so there are no coverage limits across the town. Members can talk to each other and the control room wherever there is a mobile signal.

We already have a radio scheme. Can we move to ShopSafe?

Yes. We set up the new radios, handle member sign-ups and hire agreements, and train members on site. Every call on the new network is also captured by Signal.

Who is responsible for lost or stolen radios?

On the managed option, ShopSafe manages the radios and invoices members directly. On the self-managed option, liability for lost and stolen radios sits with the BID or BCRP.

Who invoices the members?

On the managed option we invoice each member and collect radio income for you. On the self-managed option the partnership receives one annual invoice and invoices its own members if it wants to.

What does the control room need?

A desktop radio such as the Hytera MNC360, which runs on 4G and Wi-Fi with a fixed power supply, and the Smart Dispatch software for alarms, live video, maps and call playback.

What happens if a radio breaks?

Service exchange sends a replacement battery, antenna, charger or radio to arrive next day, with return packaging for the faulty part, at no extra cost. Our engineers support the network 24/7.
